The Youth Development Project is a support and information service for young people and services or groups working with youth in the City of Cessnock.
The program aims to:
- Develop and increase the range of services available for young people in the Cessnock Local Government Area.
- Identify and respond to issues affecting young people.
- Provide support and resources to services or groups working with young people.
- Improve young people's awareness of services and facilities available for them to use.
- Raise general awareness and understanding of the issues and needs of local young people

Kurri Youth Centre offers young people aged between 12 and 18 a safe space within their community. The centre offers young people a diverse range of structured and semi-structured activities, outings and social opportunities.
The Youth Centre is under the auspice of Kurri Kurri Community Centre funded by the Department of Community Services.
The Centre provides an opportunity for young people to participate in activities and outings, which they may normally, not experience.
The following is an outline of some of the activities and programs being offered:
- Social evenings where young people can listen to music
- Play pool
- Watch movies and catch up with mates
The Youth Centre is currently open Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm till 7.30pm.
The Youth Centre encourages young people to be responsible for their behaviour and actions by rewarding positive behaviour, good communication and providing opportunities for young people to make valuable contributions to their community.
